That Cortnie Girl

Another angle of my body love on this quiet Wednesday morning. I needed some worship this morning after reading about the AMA and my ‘diseased’ body yesterday.

Calling someone a disease and causing them to have an immense amount of hate for their bodies and themselves is not going to help you achieve your goal of ‘health’ aka thinness, aka taking up less space if you’re a woman, aka abiding by the latest diet/health craze. It’s only going to lead to disordered eating, and failed diets, which leads to gaining weight. You will get lots of capital from all those failed diets, though! Better get that money.

Instead of focusing on the damn BMI—which is a joke, focus on how people feel. Focus on their happiness. Focus on things other than just how they look. It’d be great if you’d stop shoving your boring health ideas down the throats of fatties. You’ve suffocated us for so long, if it was going to work don’t you think it would have by now?

My body is not diseased, my body is glorious and it can do amazing things like smile, eat veggies, walk downtown, lay on the floor with friends, walk around at the park, wear bright lipstick, get sunburns even after applying sunscreen, orgasm, eat ice cream, cuddle with kitties, work out, take baths, and wear tight clothes.

It can do all of these things without your permission and diagnosis. So stop trying.
